FYI: Buying books

May 31, 2007

Kyobo Bookstore has a membership card you can sign up for and get 10% off.

Every little bit helps when dealing with the ridiculous mark-ups we get on English books here.

If you want to save even more money. Go to the What the Book store in Itaewon. It’s a little hard to find, but they have a site, too. www.whatthebook.com. You will find news books the same price as in the States. They also deliver for free on orders over 15000 won to anywhere in Korea. There is no import tax on printed material, including books to Korea, but for some reason the larger book stores charge a lot.

What the book is a great establishment. I love that they are able to still charge the cover price. The only problem is that it takes at least two weeks on most Internet orders. It’s still a great resource though. Thanks for mentioning them! We should have had them on here a long time ago.

Got something to say?
