Getting a Korean Driver’s License
July 26, 2007
I took the day off work to spend the day with my girlfriend, eat my annual birthday steak and purchase my beautiful new Samsung 22″ widescreen LCD TV/computer monitor. Also on the docket: Pay a visit to Cine de Chef at the Apgujong CGV (here’s a hint: It’s actually in the building BEHIND the CGV-which may or may not still be part of the CGV. I wasn’t totally clear on that) and get my Korean driver’s license, both of which I planned to write up tonight when I got home.
Unfortunately, Cine de Chef was a pain in the butt to find, plus they were sold out for the next three days straight (I remember seeing the place on TV briefly a couple days ago, so I suspect that’s why). I would have been glad to make a reservation if they would have ever picked up the phone when I called. Oh well; their loss. More than a little peeved, I stopped at Cold Stone Creamery for some birthday ice cream and headed off to the Korean version of the DMV.

Seoul Survivers Podcast
July 24, 2007
I saw the Seoul Survivors podcast a while ago, but I didn’t check back with it for a long time.
I stumbled upon it today and found an episode discussing trips around Seoul and Korea. I’ll try and embed the player below. If it doesn’t work, you can download the episode directly from here (I tried to stream it from the website but the audio was messed up). You can also access it through itunes.
[Deleted embedded player because it automatically played when you load SeoulSteves and the audio still was messed up. I recommend downloading the podcast directly.]
English-speaking veterinarian/animal adoption
July 24, 2007
For those of you with animals, and I suspect there are more than a few, just in case you don’t already know this, the Chung Wha Animal Hospital in Hannam-dong caters to expat animal lovers and has information about adopting (and I believe has adoptable animals if you go there in-person) and traveling overseas with your pets.
I found this link while reading over the Lonely Lifetime website about animal adoption in Korea. On Lonely Lifetime you can find adoptable animals and discuss all issues related to animal care and rescue in Korea at the forums.
I’m hoping to do a more in-depth feature story on the animal rescue efforts in Seoul and the rest of Korea in the near future.
Surfin’ R-O-K!
July 22, 2007

Last night I came home exhausted about 12:30am.
Muscles sore, skin sunburned, head aching. I didn’t wake up until almost noon today.
Why?
I spent the day in Busan with the Seoul Boardriders Surfing Club.
You heard me right: surfing …In Korea.
