Nine Inch Nails in Seoul!

July 20, 2007

nine-inch-nails-2007-11.jpg

This coming September 11th, (unfortunately a Tuesday of all things), one of my favorite bands (?) Nine Inch Nails will be performing in Seoul. Tickets are available through Interpark and, thus, should theoretically be available for purchase at any Kyobo bookstore location.

I’m still debating if I will be going, since I have to start work before 7am three days a week now. I really want to. In the mean time, I’ve been following the discussion at Dave’s.

Travel Tickets with Zuji.com

July 20, 2007

During my preparation for my upcoming trip to Kota Kinabalu, i stumbled upon the website, Zuji.com  It is an Asia/Pacific Oceania based website that focuses on travel from/between the area.  Now, although the Zuji Korea site is in Korean, i think the Singapore/HK sites still offer the same great deals on hotel, flight ticket, car rental.

Now, i’m no guru, but i still think it’s important to double check on the respective carrier’s website to compare the fares.

Still, regardless…Zuji.com looks to be a very useful travel website for Expats in Asia.

Performances around Seoul for Kids!

July 19, 2007

The Korea Times has a great listing of events happening around town for the kids.  So, if you are staying in Seoul for the summer–and looking for something to do with your children.  Check out the article here.

Or, you can also check out the Korean Herald’s listing of performances here.

Living conditions worsen for Expats in Seoul.

July 19, 2007

It seems the expat community’s views on life in Korea are on a steady decline, (however some say the business environment is improving–depends on who you ask.  Don’t ask LoneStar!)

Typical issues of housing, education, housing, medical services, and um…HOUSING are always listed as top problems.

Seoulsteves notes that these problems make living in Korea quite difficult.  We note that due to the factors involved, things will probably not get any better or change.  Housing will continue being outrageous, finding a decent doctor is nearly impossible, the international schools will continue charging exhorbitant fees, apples will still cost 1,000won/per and buses will continue being erratic.

This forum will be where we as expats can share information with each other on surviving and thriving in Seoul.  So, if you have any good information or tips, doctor advice, etc–we want to hear from you! Send mail to me directly.

Check out the Korea Times article that details the fall of Expat life in Seoul here.

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL??? Fantasy League to start soon!

July 17, 2007

This was just posted on the Korean Herald’s announcement site. And, me being a HUGE AMERICAN football fan, i urge all those who are likewise inclined, to look into signing up with a league that’s in your own timezone, plus having a LIVE, in person draft is much easier than trying to coordinate with friends from back home.

Staytuned for more information to follow because Seoulsteves will be hosting their own Fantasy Football league as well.

“Anyone interested in playing fantasy football? Only for owners who will be active til the end. I will increase the number of teams if there is demand. Info is below.

http://games.espn.go.com/frontpage/football
League name: KFL
Password: Seoul
Draft: September 1, 1:00 PM (tentative)”
