Big Coffee News: fresh roasted coffee at Cafe Classico
October 31, 2007
Okay so it’s no secret I’m a coffee find (EDIT: That should read “fiend” d’oh…). Saying that I’ve blogged about trying to find a decent cup of Joe in Seoul before is an understatement (just here, here, here, and here).
So yesterday I’m walking with my girlfriend to the Gangnam Hooters and she spots a little corner cafe which I’ve walked by many times before without thinking about. She says she wants to check it out, so we walk closer. That’s when I notice a little sign that says “커피 볶은집” (coffee roasting house).
Sure enough, I was able to pick up a bag of same-day roasted coffee beans to bring to the office this morning.

CONTEST UPDATE: We have a winner
October 30, 2007
Thanks to the folks over at The East Wind-up Chronicle for their entertaining entry about Five Things You Need For Your Next Korean Baseball Game.
It’s timely too, as SK just won their first ever Korean baseball league championship!
It’s also worth checking out their coverage on the MLB World Series, which also just wrapped-up with the Boston Red Sox sweeping the Colorado Rockies for their second championship in two years.
I’ve decided to move away from the original plan to post a top-ten list of the best entrants, and re-post the entire entry for posterity. In order to keep in the ‘Top Ten’ Spirit, I will round out the list with the top five YouTube videos of Korean cheergirls:

Final Saturday trip to Daejon Animal Shelter
October 26, 2007
From the Daejon 150:
We will be making the usual trip down to Daejon this Saturday for people interested in adopting or fostering a dog. We have applied to the Daejon council for more time to adopt the dogs out, but if we don’t receive a favourable response this may be the last weekend trip before the dogs are sent to other shelters.
We will be taking the 9.00am KTX train from Seoul station to Daejon. We meet in the KTX ticket/departure gate area of Seoul station before 8.45am (I recommend people arrive between 8.30 and 8.45 as the train leaves at 9.00am sharp). Anyone who is not familiar with the KTX gate, when you walk up the big set of stairs at the front of Seoul station and walk inside the main area you will see an escalator immediately in front of you with a KTX sign. Take that escalator up to the mezzanine level one floor above the main area and we meet there. The train takes about an hour to get to Daejon.
