Calling all Korea Bloggers: Enjoy a movie or book on us!

October 22, 2007

Our week one gift certificate winner was a representative of the Seoul Sisters Rugby Club. Congratulations, and thanks for posting about your November 24th Dodgeball Tournament!

For week two, we’re focusing on English-Language blogs related to Korea. Those of you that follow ProBlogger will be pretty familiar with how this is going to run. Here are the vital stats:

Prize: 2 x 10,000 Won gift certificates (to a single winner) that can be used on Movie tickets, books, and some other stuff. In other words, that’s 20,000 won in gift certificates.

Bonus: Extra exposure for your blog. We will post a summary of the contest with props to the best ten tips of all of the lists with full credit and links to the blog that produced each of the top ten tips.

Read below for the full rules:

1. Write a blog entry outlining your top five tips for living in Korea that more people should know about. If you have a niche blog you can tailor your list to fit your blog. For example, if you run a blog about yo-yoing in Korea, you could make “Top 5 places to buy yo-yos in Korea,” “Top 5 things you should know about yo-yoing in Korea,” or even “5 yo-yos I would bring with me if I were coming to Korea for the first time.”

I think you get the idea. Try to keep your lists as topical as possible, though, because… well… just check out rule #4

2. Somewhere in your post (NOT part of your top 5 list) mention this contest, the SeoulSteves events calendar, to which events can be submitted for free, and the corresponding link: http://www.seoulsteves.com/submit

3. E-mail us (contest@SeoulSteves.com) or leave a comment below with a direct link to your entry. Make sure you use an email address that you check frequently so that we can contact you when you win.

4. Out of the best tips, we will be creating a master Top 10 list of tips for living in Korea to be posted on our blog. The number one tip on the top ten list will be the winner of the gift certificates. Tips will be evaluated primarily on utility (potential to do the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people), with obscurity (unlikelihood of others already knowing about the tip), general coolness, and why-didn’t-I-think-of-that factors playing a part.

Tips already posted on the SeoulSteves.com blog will be ineligible, however, it will not disqualify your entire list from the contest. The winner will be notified by email. If the winner does not respond with a mailing address (within Korea) for the certificate within 48 hours, the certificates will go to the person with the next best list.

Fine print:
Only blogs with substantial posts existing prior to October 21st, 2007 will be eligible to win. An individual blog’s prominence and popularity will not be a factor in determining the top ten tips. Seoul Steves reserves the right to expand the size of the ‘Top Ten List’ if an adequate number of entries are recieved.

We’ll be running this contest until October 29th at 11:59 p.m. KST.
Good luck!!!
