MP3 Experiment in Seoul
November 16, 2007
Something interesting is going on this coming Saturday in Hongdae. It’s an “MP3 Experiment” based on the idea originally started by Improv Everywhere:
Improv Everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has executed over 70 missions involving thousands of undercover agents. The group is based in New York City.
If performance art is your bag, get the who, what, when and where at MP3 Experiment Seoul. If you can figure out the ‘why,’ then let us know
The Wikipedia entry on Improv Everywhere has some clues.
P.S.: Flash mobs are hilarious.

How to buy a custom tailored men’s suit (in Itaewon)
November 12, 2007
This past summer I decided to retire my standby charcoal gray suit. I bought it off the rack in grad school a few years ago, but over the summer I pretty much wore it out. While I do have other suits, none of them are really suitable as the cornerstone of a business wardrobe like a charcoal grey, Navy blue, or just plain black suit is.

A New Blog arrives on the Scene with Turkey Day Tips
November 12, 2007
Aside from being a good site about food in Korea, ZenKimchi has started to become my go-to source for finding great new blogs about Korea (and we got a mention last week too. woohoo!). Today, a real gem was posted.
To top it off, Deconstructing Korea has a list of ways to celebrate Thanksgiving in Korea.
It looks to be a fantastic blog with a lot of dining information. There’s even a Facebook Group, which I’ve already joined.
I’m hoping to add a list of Thanksgiving events going on in the next few days as well.
Good news for the not-so-skinny
November 7, 2007
In case you haven’t met me in person, the moniker “skinny” is wishful thinking. In spite of exercising regularly and watching what I eat, I can’t seem to drop the extra weight I intentionally put on as a High School football player, and an almost entirely sedentary college student, back home. Recently I’ve had several blood tests confirming that I have high bad cholesterol (though every other test comes back perfectly fine), underscoring my pressing need to drop the pounds, a task made more difficult living in Korea where I’m not really sure about the nutritional value of whatever I happen to be eating at the time.
Well, the New York Times brought some hope today when it reported that overweight people have been found less likely to die from certain diseases. Though they narrowly define the term “overweight” as the area between being normal weight and obese (more people are considered obese than you probably realize. It’s not always visibly noticable, in my opinion), it’s still an interesting study.
