Last Minute Christmas Gifts for the Cigar Enthusiast

The 12 days of Christmas are ticking down, and perhaps you might be under some pressure to choose presents for a coworker, a friend, or that special someone in your life. If he or she happens to smoke cigars, or would be interested in learning about the cigar culture, a gift of cigars or cigar accessories would be quite appropriate and well appreciated.
There are many cigar gift ideas that range from the inexpensive to the pricey. A good recommendation for a new cigar smoker is a couple of mild to medium-bodied cigars accompanied by an inexpensive cigar case and cutter (don’t forget to include a couple of cedar strips for a better light). If the recipient enjoys this first cigar experience, he or she then has a starting point to continue his or her own cigar exploration. A few brands of very good cigars to start out with would be Romeo y Julieta, Hoyo de Monterrey, and Cohiba Linea 1492 (Siglo Series). For the case, either a Xikar leather case or an airtight, waterproof Cigar Caddy is an excellent choice. It’s a good idea to keep the price down when creating a starter gift ensemble, but important to keep quality in mind as well.

A more seasoned cigar enthusiast will certainly appreciate a quality box set, but a little more creativity could make a present for him or her that much more memorable. If price is an issue, a good gift idea could be a simple, quality accessory that he or she doesn’t have, such as a Cigar Caddy travel case with a travel humidification device or a Xikar cigar knife, punch, cutter, or multi-tool. If you have a little more freedom in your budget, a high-quality home humidor (stocked with at least a couple of the recipient’s favorite cigars) is an excellent choice. For a truly unique gift, consider the Max Benjamin Mini Cigar Bar; this gift is not cheap, but is sure to make the recipient stand out among his or her cigar smoking peers.

When deciding on a cigar-related gift, your biggest considerations will be your budget and your recipient’s taste. A good tobacconist should be able to provide some excellent recommendations based on these factors. Remember that the cigar enthusiast on your list will always appreciate the gift of a favorite cigar or any thoughtfully selected cigar-related gift, and a little effort and research into his or her collection will go a long way on Christmas morning.
