Learning Korean Online
December 29, 2007
I’ve been meaning to write a post about learning Korean for a LONG while and haven’t gotten around to it. Well, now I have a little motivation since I’ve added an affiliate advertiser to our site.

Personally I’m reluctant to pay for any online Korean learning program. These days there are a lot of online resources springing up that are quite good. In fact, Galbijim has an extensive list of what’s out there, including several totally free study methods.
But in my case, I found that I need some accountability to stay motivated. I’ve tried studying music, grammar, hanja, etc, but I can’t stay focused unless I know I’m meeting someone at least once a week. That’s why having a professional tutor was the best investment in Korean I’ve ever made. Practically speaking, though, I just don’t have the disposable income to put into it these days though.
So this leaves me looking at my options, including online. KoreanClass101 impressed me immediately with it’s organized structure and variety of study aids available to supplement the podcast lessons. There is one pretty major drawback for me though: Only two intermediate lessons.
There is a promise of more to come though, with updates every day (to all the different programs they have, including supplementary lessons on Korean culture and expressions that anyone could benefit from), so we’ll see how it goes.
Anyway, for just 8 bucks a month, it would be a great choice for someone in their beginner level, or people new to Korea that just want to learn some survival Korean.
Also, we’ve been wanting to try affiliate advertising for a while but have shied away from Google ads and such. We wanted to make sure any advertisements ADD value to our site for you, the readers.
If nothing else, I hope it gets people thinking about learning Korean. I’ve found that the more Korean I learn, the more I enjoy living and working in Korea.
