Volunteer!

March 25, 2008

If you ever were curious about volunteering or are currently looking for a volunteering opportunity…look no further. The Seoul Global Center is accepting applications to volunteer for various positions at the center.

They include: Cultural Exchange Volunteers and Foreign Language Study Club Advisors.

I volunteered at the old “Seoul Help Center for Foreigners” about 3 years ago…seems like ages. It was a great opportunity to help visitors and Seoul residents alike.  If you think you have an extra few hours to spare…then i gurantee you won’t regret it.

Check out the Seoul Global Center’s Website for more information.

Housecall Massage

March 25, 2008

I’m sure just about everyone has seen the seemingly seedy ads in the local papers about house-call massage…offers from:

Posh Massage–Feel the Difference, Special and Discreet Care, Regretless Choice 010-8675-2664

Best Massage–Feel the Best Service…(price 100,000~) 019-812-0013

Are just some of the ones that clutter the ad scene in the JoongAng Daily, but are 10 times worse in the Korea Herald and the Korea Times.

Here’s a link to a site that seems to be about the real deal..happy ending not included.

A local Korean entrepreneur and masseuse, JiYoung, is offering a Housecall Swedish Massage service.  Her website can be found here.  She also runs a well-being shop in Itaewon that i’m sure most of you have walked by at some time or another.

Swedish aroma oil massage
W100,000 /1 hour
W150,000/ 1 hour 30 min
W180,000/ 2 hours

Although i have not tried this service out, i will be trying this out in the days to come…Work/Stress is killing me–i need a good massage!

Korea Herald; Mixed Martial Arts in Korea

March 23, 2008

My latest article in the Korea Herald went to press last Thursday. This time I tackled the problem of getting bored with your workouts by trying out new things. I profiled Mixed Martial Arts; the single most intense, yet intellectually stimulating, physical activity I’ve ever participated in. Read more

Seoul’s New UTour Platform

March 21, 2008

The Seoul Metro Government and SK C&C have partnered up to bring the citizens of Seoul and visitors alike a new mobile tour platform called UTOUR

It’s a great idea with a lot of potential.  Kicking off in the Myeong-Dong area of central Seoul, UTOUR will be in the Beta testing phase until the end of April.

If you would like to be involved with the testing phase, Seoulsteves is getting a group together to hit the streets of Myeong-Dong.  SK C&C will provide us the RFID chipped phones so that we can try out this new system free of charge without having to rent a phone!  Please contact me via email if you are interested in being part of this.
