Seoul to Britain BY CAR!

September 24, 2008

The Seoul Steves have been so busy that we didn’t even realize our friends at Seoul2B have started their journey! Appropriately enough, it’s taken them DAYS to get their car out of customs in Vladivostok due to a mix up with the Korean customs agency. The Steves would like to wish Rob and Chris the best of luck. Travel safe guys and drop us a line when you get home. We’ll be reading your journal as much as we can. For everyone else, these guys are making an amazing journey and it seems like they haven’t been getting much publicity for it, so go check out their story.

Investing in Korea

September 18, 2008

In the past few weeks I’ve been reading a great new blog called Investing Won.

In this blog you get the run-down on what’s going on in Korea’s financial scene. Most importantly, the info is presented 100% in English and explores topics of interest directly to expats in Korea.

I recently opened a savings account with HSBC but haven’t yet installed all the security software on my computer to actually manage it all. I was impressed with how they actually sent someone to my office to sign me up though. I’ve also opened a savings account with MetLife that I pay in to for ten years and comes with insurance and life insurance that I keep for the rest of my life.

I know pretty much nothing about investing, so I’m curious what people think; am I making wise moves so far? I figure at the bare minimum they’re both better than the NOTHING I was doing before.
