Singapore Chili Crab
February 5, 2008
Dying for some S’pore style chili crab, i sought out the advice of the resident experts on the subject: The Singapore Embassy in Seoul. It’s been way too long to taste that savory crab dish–in fact, this writer never really ate and enjoyed crab until he had Chili Crab in Singapore a few business trips ago. Sitting in the humidity on a plastic chair in Newton Circus, sipping a cool, refreshing Tiger Beer, and eating the sumptuous Chili Crab–simply the best of the best. If you’ve never eaten this delicacy–then i argue that you aren’t really living life.
Well, here is the response i got from the Singapore Embassy:
Dear Steven
You can try one restaurant called KrazyKrab which is located at 34-12, Yeouido dong, Yeongdeungpo gu.
Tel: (02) 780-4014 and Fax: (02) 780-4018.
They have a website at:They served varieties of mud-crab dishes.
Regard.

Been to Hooters Lately?
January 1, 2008
I happened to stop in Hooters for a quick lunch today and found a slew of promotional events going on. First of all is a weekly Texas Hold ‘em tournament. 20 bucks and includes 2 free bottles of Grolsch beer. Some decent prizes are available (a bottle of wine plus a 100,000 won dept. store gift cert for first place), and the waitress said that only about 20 people total have been showing up. Sounds like a pretty decent way to spend a Wednesday evening to me and I’m sure I’ll start showing up in the next couple weeks.
Also, you can get a very decent pair of Guinness winter gloves by ordering four pints of Guinness. Or you can do what my girlfriend and I did, which is be really nice to the waitress and only order two pints.
There’s a similar promotion going on for bottles of Grolsch (you can get a nice-looking metal thermos), but I’ve been needing some winter gloves for riding my scooter during the winter.
I’ve been hard on Hooters in Korea before, but lately every time I go there they seem to have something going on that almost makes the inflated prices worth it.
Christmas events
December 13, 2007
I’ve gotta say, Dan over at Epicouragous in Seoul, is doing a fine job with his blog.
He recently posted a list of Christmas dining events, of which, I expect I will attend a couple.
Also his review of Buddha’s Belly in Itaewon is as unique and entertaining as it is informative. I’ve been to Buddha’s Belly. The food was okay, but not great. You know what else wasn’t great? The curly hair I found in my food and still having to pay full price…
